Venture capital
We invest in early-stage ventures where profit and impact are mutually reinforcing.
Venture capital is the tool to invest at an early stage and signal how we envision the shift towards sustainability across industries. When the driver of revenues is the driver of positive impact, no trade-offs are made once the venture grows.
We partner with companies with an asymmetric impact potential. If successful, these companies contribute to systemic shifts in traditional industries, outweighing downside risks related to early-stage investing (which we manage carefully). Our portfolio companies span across the circular economy, materials science, healthcare, education, future of work, and re-skilling.
Backing impact entrepreneurs
We have two ways of supporting ambitious founders from idea to impact at scale.
maze x
An investment programme for newly founded teams based on a €100k through a SAFE (20% discount and €5m cap) to support founders as they prepare for a first round. Through Maze X as an extended team, founders multiply their execution capacity by 3x, ahead of their first round of funding.
MSM
A €45m impact fund investing across Europe. It invests at pre-seed and seed, with first tickets from €100k to €1m. MSM looks for business models in which the driver of revenue is the driver of positive social and environmental outcomes. MSM adopts an impact-linked remuneration structure (read here).
An impact community
Our community is made of first-time and seasoned founders, early-stage and growth investors, and a range of venture experts. All are committed to building a sustainable future. Through our community, we create value for portfolio companies through introductions to investors, experts, and talent. We organise workshops and events to share knowledge, and build a network of support among founders.
Partnering with maze has strengthened the impact investment strategy of Ageas in Portugal, both for the corporate entities and AGEAS Foundation. Through this partnership, we have privileged access to innovative impact startups relevant to our business areas while working towards positive impact and financial outcomes.
